Greece and Italy are the countries most commonly blamed for undocumented immigrants entering the European Union. An estimated 47,000 undocumented workers crossed the boarder into Greece in 2010. By March 2011 authorities had already intercepted nearly 22,000 immigrants attempting to enter the E.U. through Italy. Civil unrest and various wars have increased the flow of immigrant from the Middle East and North Africa. Due to the cohesion of the countries, once inside the E.U., travel between countries is fairly low security.
